We are thankful to former Commodore Peter McAvoy and many of our Flying Scot and Laser racers (among others) who will be volunteering to teach adult sailing lessons this July.

Peter will be leading the classes. They are scheduled, for now, to take place each Friday in July, for a total of five Fridays from approximately 2 pm - 4:30 pm. This is a great opportunity for beginners or inexperienced sailors to get out on the water and learn the basics with talented instructors.

There is no charge. You can attend as many sessions as you want or are able. No reason to be shy - come to one or all classes.

Space may be limited based upon demand and availability.

Please email Peter your interest, so he can get an idea of how many to expect each week. Peter’s email is in the link below:

SHYC Adult Sail

More details to follow. Those who participate are cordially invited to the Flying Scot race cocktail parties on Saturday nights during the summer. This is a great chance to socialize and get to know fellow SHYC members and to learn why sailing is so much fun at SHYC!

Dear Members, Easter has come and gone, spring has sprung, Covid is waning and summer is around the corner! We are looking forward to an active summer of 2022. In order to have a successful and fun season, we always need volunteers from the membership to make this happen. Please consider volunteering your time and effort to one of the following three important committees by reaching out to the chairs: Entertainment Committee Chair - Kristin Henry Email: kethenry@gmail.com Kristin plans all the major social events, so she can really use extra help for one or many of them. Please email her and volunteer your assistance. The events include, opening lunch, July 4th cookout, Commodore cocktail party, adult social and closing ceremony. Junior Yacht Club Committee - Bob Bench, Alicia Erickson and Monica Rogan.

Emails: robert.k.bench@gmail.com alicia.p.erickson@gmail.com monicarogan@me.com There are many activities and junior social events throughout the summer that the committee can use help with. OPTI Regatta Chair - Lora Teahan Email: lorateahan@gmail.com The Opti Regatta will take place this year on July 18th. It is the SHYC premier annual junior regatta event. It is a one day massive undertaking for the club with sailors from all over Cape Cod and southeastern Mass coming to participate. Please plan on helping Lora and the club make this event possible, fun and successful! Please email one or all of the committees and offer your help! If you are a newer member, volunteering is without a doubt the best way to meet people and make new friends. Looking forward to summer of 2022! Andrew L. Barrett Commodore
